Tax office in Italian: 12 survival phrases

Book an appointment, say you have just moved, ask about your tax number, and get what you are told in writing. Each card uses the local official names for the office and the number.

Register: Polite (formal is safer). Use "Lei". The tax agency is the "Agenzia delle Entrate". Your tax number is the "codice fiscale", issued by the Agenzia delle Entrate (or by the Questura when you get a residence permit). Many services need an appointment.

How to read the sounds: Italian is spoken as written. Double consonants (tt, ll, zz) are held longer. c before e/i = ch, g before e/i = j, gn = ny, gli = ly, sc before e/i = sh. Stress is in CAPITALS.
