Pub quiz in French: 10 phrases for tonight

Teams of four to six answer rounds of questions over drinks. Solo players are almost always welcome to join a team with a free seat, so asking to join is the key move.

Register: Informal (friendly). At a pub quiz in France, "tu" is common with people under about 45. If someone answers you with "vous", follow them. "Un quiz" or "un blind test / une soirée quiz" are the usual words.

How to read the sounds: Say the vowel through your nose where you see n/m after it (on, an, in); don't sound the n. r is a soft throat sound. Final consonants are mostly silent. Stress falls on the last syllable and is marked in CAPITALS.
